Emmanuel - a God who is with us

Christmas looks a lot different this year. A s I reflect on the whirlwind that was the past few weeks, I can’t help but smile thinking of the laughs I’ve shared, the hugs I’ve received, and the peace that comes with celebrating Jesus every year.  There's something so simplistic and beautiful about traditions that aren't broken no matter where I am in the world. The sermon last night said something that really stood out to me. Christianity is the only religion where instead of humans reaching up to God, striving to be good enough for Him, God reaches down to us, in the most vulnerable way possible, coming to us as a baby. Jesus experienced the messiness of being human and yet never sinned. He came down to our level, humbled Himself to be with us, because He loves us that much. Jesus wants to be so close and personal with His children. So as my first Christmas away from home comes to an end, I miss my family like crazy and have cried many tears, yet somehow I find myself rejoicin
